Five Sharp

Pescatarian Sunday dinners

Pescatarian is the easiest diet to cook well for and the easiest to break by accident: a fish main with a bacon-fat vinaigrette, a seafood stew on a chicken stock. The plans on this page were checked on exactly that. Fish-forward cuisines dominate — Portuguese, Vietnamese, coastal Italian, Japanese — and the almost-fits below are usually one lardon away from qualifying, which is worth knowing before you shop.

What counts: Fish and shellfish are welcome; meat and poultry are not, anywhere in the meal — including stocks, lardons and the bacon in the greens.
